LinkedIn's new look

This week marks the roll out of “the largest desktop redesign since LinkedIn's inception”. It is also LinkedIn's first directional step as part of Microsoft. The redesign emphasizes search, messaging and an improved news feed along with new tools to link recruiters with job candidates. Marketing Land provided an overview of the new design and Social Media Today focused specifically on changes that were made to search functionality. LinkedIn itself offered three tips for making the most of the redesign.

The redesign has been hailed as a marked improvement. Fast Company described the user experience in depth, noting that it had an “app-like” quality that helps to explain why someone would use LinkedIn. LinkedIn's senior designer Amy Parnell described the emphasis on streamlining to VentureBeat. Work anniversaries, new jobs and birthdays have, thankfully, been moved from the news fees to a new notifications page.
